1947 LEYLAND PD1 KHW630, C4019

KHW630 was one of 50 Leyland PD1 double deckers delivered to the Bristol Joint Services fleet of the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Company to meet the shortfall in orders brought about because The Tramways’ Motor Constructional Works was unable to produce sufficient bus chassis to meet all of the Tilling groups requirements. However, she carried an ECW highbridge body that was becoming standard in the fleet. This batch of buses mostly operated busy City services from the Eastville depot.

C4019 has been out of use for many years now and the restoration will be total. In August 2007 she was moved by extra low loader to the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum at Lothalmond where, initially her seats have been taken to be retrimmed for Bristol K-type C3386: her restoration will start when time and space becomes available, and it is anticipated that she will not return to Bristol until 2010 or 2011, when she will join the only other surviving member of the batch owned by the Bristol Vintage Bus group.
